Dear Mike:

Your letter of June 22 was most appreciated.

Mike, I think you are the one to be commended for your tolerance, patience, and excellent leadership in guiding this civil rights bill through the Senate. I doubt any other majority leader in the history of the Senate had a more difficult task. The nice thing about it is you retained all your friends, too.

My best wishes always,

Sincerely,

Milton R. Young
