Children of Immigrants

In certain ways, a family's first American-born generation is an extension of the process of naturalization as it further solidifies one's roots in the United States. The documents below are from a collection of birth certificates for children born near Red Lodge, Montana in the 1920s. As indicated by this sample, many of the births recorded by these certificates are those for first generations of American-born citizens.
