The Montana Alpha Chapter of the Phi Delta Theta National Fraternity at the University of Montana-Missoula was granted a charter on December 29, 1920 and installed on March 4, 1921. The fraternity was founded by men who first established the local fraternity Delta Rho. Delta Rho was established at The University of Montana-Missoula on January 26, 1916. Phi Delta Theta was closed in 1943 due to WWII, as the vast majority of men were enlisted. The house reopened in 1944. The house closed again in 2004 and was re-chartered as a “dry” fraternity in 2011.
