Sigma Nu
Sigma Nu • ΣΝ • Gamma Phi Chapter • 1904-Today
The Gamma Phi Chapter of the Sigma Nu National Fraternity at the University of Montana-Missoula was granted a charter on December 27, 1904 and installed on February 3, 1905. The house was founded by seven men who had first established the local fraternity House of Jericho. The House of Jericho was established in 1902 as a local men’s group made up primarily of athletes. Early meetings were held in a barn owned by the McLeod Family at the corner of Connell and Higgins. Sigma Nu closed in 1943 due to WWII, as the vast majority of men were enlisted. The house reopened in 1944. To learn more about Sigma Nu check out the James Clinton Rule Papers.
