Fatty was replaced as mascot by a new bear named Fessy III in October 1940. Fessy III was a seven-month-old black bear, on loan for the football season from the See’Em Alive Zoo in Red Lodge, Montana. She weighed 140 pounds and had a twin back at the zoo in Red Lodge.
